What is Mleiha?
Mleiha is a desert area in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, approximately 80–95 km east of Dubai. It is best known for its dramatic red sand dunes — among the tallest and most striking in the UAE — and for the Mleiha Archaeological Centre, a UNESCO World Heritage candidate site with over 6,000 years of documented human history.
Unlike the heavily commercialised desert corridors near Dubai, Mleiha remains quieter, more scenic, and more authentically Arabian. It is one of the few places in the UAE where you can combine a world-class desert safari with genuine historical and cultural heritage.
